Meet Dr. Zacharia Facaros,
D.P.M., FACFAS, CWSP, NASM-CES
Dr. Facaros was born and raised in Oakmont where he grew up in a Greek home alongside three brothers. He obtained his doctor’s degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine after completing a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He underwent a 3-year residency training at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center in Fountain Valley, California, gaining a comprehensive background in foot and ankle non-surgical and surgical care involving reconstructive procedures.
He sought further training completing a one-year fellowship focused on diabetic foot and ankle reconstructive surgery, Charcot deformity correction, plastic surgery techniques, and correction of advanced deformities. He was under the tutelage of the eminent Dr. Thomas Zgonis, DPM, FACFAS, at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During his fellowship, he held an academic position as a clinical instructor within the Division of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, Department of Orthopaedics, and maintained an active role in teaching podiatric students and residents while also participating in clinical research.
He has spent significant time treating athletes and sports-related injuries of all types, holding a Corrective Exercise Specialist certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has lectured and co-authored articles and book chapters in the field of reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and has remained involved in academics with teaching appointments. Dr. Facaros is dedicated to all facets of foot and ankle care. His expertise includes Foot and Ankle Trauma, Sports Medicine, Soft Tissue and Skeletal Reconstruction of the Diabetic Foot & Ankle, Diabetic Charcot Foot & Ankle Reconstruction, Revisional and Post-Traumatic Foot & Ankle Surgery, External Fixation &, Orthobiologics.
Board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, he also strives to exhaust all non-operative treatment in a comprehensive manner and looks forward to providing you with attentive and thorough care.
